Moody Gardens
       Wings of Wonder Bird Show (Jun 4th-Aug 20th - 12pm, 2pm, & 4pm - Daily)
       *Get up close to owls, falcons, hawks, vultures and a variety of other bird species as you learn about these amazing creatures and their place in nature.
       Bands on the Sand (Jun 4th-Aug 13 - 6-10pm - Every Friday & Saturday)
       *This live music series runs throughout the summer following each show with fireworks over the Moody Gardens pyramids and Offatts Bayou. Admission to each concert is $15 and free for kids three and under. Bands on the Sand will be held from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through August 13.  Moody Gardens

        *Boogie with Baby is a fitness class with your baby in a carrier! Sounds so fun! Class will be every Saturday at noon and the cost is $10.71 (includes tax).   Boogie with Baby

       Galveston’s Own Farmers Market 9-1pm (Sun) & 3-7pm (Thurs) (Every Sunday & Thursday)
      *Pick up some local produce and help support local farmers and growers. They usually have a kids corner here and an artist playing some tunes.  Farmers Market 

Sea Scout Base Galveston
       Schooner Sundays 2-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base's schooner boat during "Schooner Sundays." The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. A licensed captain and “spot tracker” is aboard the ship, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. *Check with website for cost involved*
       M/V Baysmart Express Public Cruise 12:30-4pm (Every Saturday)
       *Looking for something FUN? Hop aboard the M/V Baysmart Express for a 3 hour informative and scenic tour! Watch the pelicans soar over Offatts Bayou as you head into the Intercostal Waterway and pass under the Galveston Causeway Bridge. Be awed at the marine cargo vessels maneuvering in the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels. Dolphins surfacing are always exciting! Departing from and returning to the Sea Scout Base Galveston. Boarding at 12:30 - Departing at 1:00pm. Overflow parking with shuttle service available. Adults: $30 | Kids (Under 12): $20 | Kids 5 and Under: Free  SSB Calendar

Galveston Island Beaches/Locations (Locations Vary)
Artist Boat
       Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tours 9:30am-4:30pm (Tours departing at various times - Daily in the summer starting June 2nd)
       *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups. Sign-up for tours is on location, but if your group would like to reserve a tour, email the Bucket Brigade Coordinator at kguidroz@artistboat.org, or call Artist Boat at (409)770-0722.       *Artist Boat is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts. Galveston Island State Park

       Sand Castle Contest 10-11am  
       *Ranger Lisa will clear an area for our contest, and bring some gear for you to use. The park wants to see what kind of castle you can make, so you're invited to spend some time gathering materials, building a structure, and decorating it to your liking! Prizes awarded to participants, but you can enter youth into our Arts in the Parks contest, via the Get to Know website for bigger prizes (ages 0-19yrs): Get to Know  Only sand castles made during the program count. No prior experience or materials needed.
       Beach Safety 101 12-1pm
       *Don't be afraid to go into the water, but do it safely! Come, have some fun and enjoy the beaches of Galveston safely with Ranger Lisa. She will discuss some of the basics on land, then use some life jackets to explore the currents at our sandy shores.  (Life jackets provided and shared.)

       Moody Gardens Oasis Hike - Hike it Baby 5:30-7pm
       *Come join HIB for a kid led stroll around Moody Garden’s tropical oasis! They will be walking on the walking trail, and along the water. Great area for kids to spot the bunny rabbits! Afterwards, the kids can play on the playground. Feel free to bring a picnic supper. *Make sure you sign the waiver before participating in any HIB hikes! Hike it Baby - Moody Gardens

Seawall - 81st Street
       Seawall Hike/Walk - Fast Paced - Hike it Baby 8-10am
       *Get your sneakers on and meet HIB by 81st street, and walk to the end of seawall (1.7 mile one way). Because of traffic and drop onto the beach, please bring stroller or carrier and  keep those kiddos safely in!!! It’s more of a faster walk to get the day started! Parking between 69th and 81st is free, park close to 81st street on Seawall. Seawall Hike

       *Be on the lookout for Corvettes all around Galveston Island this weekend! More than1,000 Corvettes are expected to converge on Galveston Island for the second annual Corvettes Cruisin’ Galveston event. The weekend begins with a car show and special events for participants, plus a fundraiser that will benefit area charities. Corvette's Cruisin'

Galveston Island State Park
All events are free with park admission ($5 person/13 & under free)  GISP Calendar
       Turtle Patrol Jr. 6-7pm  
       *Become a Jr. Ranger and help save the sea turtles! You can become a citizen scientist, and help the park to understand more about the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, an endangered species that nests Galveston Island State Park. You will take a stroll down the beach and explore ways to help the environment. Meet at the day use picnic area and begin a short hike down the beach and through the dunes, patrolling for turtles on this easy, evening beach hike. Great for anyone wanted to become a Jr. Ranger. Families, groups, and pets on a leash are welcome. Jr. Ranger Edition focuses on more hands-on and kid-friendly activities and topics.

       TheGameCon
       *TheGameCon is a way to help show families that gaming can be positive, and can be someone's career if they pursue it. Having over 4,000 entries in 2015, they are looking forward to bringing the fun-filled game-packed convention back to the island for yet another year of gaming for the whole family to enjoy. You can get your tickets online or at the door ($65 for a weekend pass, $35 for a day pass). TheGameCon

East Beach
        AIA Sandcastle Competition 9am-4:30pm
        *For over two decades teams of architects, designers, and engineers have taken their tools to East Beach in Galveston for one of the world’s largest sandcastle competitions. The Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has been hosting this competition since 1986. The AIA SandCastle Competition is a fund-raising event for AIA Houston and ArCH Foundation. This year over 60 teams have their eyes and shovels set on winning the prestigious Golden Bucket Award.        Kids Workshop - Father's Day Trophy Smart Phone Holder 9am-12pm
       *Show Dad who's #1! Join their hands-on workshop and build a trophy-shaped cell phone holder. Once the project is built, your child can paint it and decorate with stickers that show dad he's #1. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.        *Explore the park with some cool tools and tips. Join the short lesson and exploring hike. Great for families, young scouts, and youth of all ages to learn about the important job of a park ranger, and spend time discovering wildlife and hiking safety.    
       Beach Exploration 10-11:30am  
       *Walks led by Galveston Bay Area Texas Master Naturalists - come and make memories with your family and friends.

Moody Gardens

       * This summer, visitors will have the chance to get up close to owls, falcons, hawks, vultures and a variety of other bird species as they learn about these amazing creatures and their place in nature at  Moody Gardens live bird presentation series, Wings of Wonder. Shows are scheduled daily June 4 – August 20th at 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the white tent located near the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat dock.
       Bands on the Sand - Gary Michael Dahl 6-10pm
       *Beginning June 4, this live music series runs throughout the summer following each show with fireworks over the Moody Gardens pyramids and Offatts Bayou. Bands on the Sand will be held from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through August 13.    Moody Gardens

       GCVA "Spalding's School's Out Beach Party" 9am
       *The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association will host its "Spalding's School's Out Beach Party."  Spaulding volleyballs will be available in every division. This is the largest beach doubles tournament in Texas. Free T-Shirts For first 100 Players who check in at the beach. Entry Fees: $25 per person, $50 per team. GCVA

       Bay Exploration 10-11:00am  
       *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.
