        *Boogie with Baby is a fitness class with your baby in a carrier! Sounds so fun! Class will be every Saturday at noon and the cost is $10.71 (includes tax).   Boogie with Baby

       Tiny Tot Tuesday (Every Tuesday)

       Children's Art Class 3-5pm & 5-7pm (Jan 15th-May 13th - Every Friday)
       *For children ages 6-14! Cost is $20 per class; art supplies and snacks provided. Tremont Gallery will be offering these every Friday afternoon with a different theme each class.   Children's Art Class

       Galveston’s Own Farmers Market 9-1pm (Sun) & 3-7pm (Thurs) (Every Sunday & Thursday)
      *Pick up some local produce and help support local farmers and growers. They usually have a kids corner here and an artist playing some tunes.  Farmers Market **Thursday market doesn't start until April 21st**

Sea Scout Base Galveston
       Schooner Sundays 2-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base’s schooner boat during “Schooner Sundays.” The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. A licensed captain and “spot tracker” is aboard the ship, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. *Check with website for cost involved*  Schooner Sundays

Schreiber Park
       “May The 4th Be With You”, Star Wars Themed Story & Play - Hike it Baby 10:15am-12:12pm
       *Come with HIB to read from “5-Minute Star Wars Stories” and play on the space themed equipment at Schreiber Park. The first 12 kids there, will receive a light saber (foam pool noodle made to look like a light saber). This is a “Park & Play” event, not a hike. Feel free to bring along Star Wars toys that can be shared. Pack a picnic blanket and lunch if you like. There isn’t much shade at this park, but there are shaded/covered picnic tables. Don’t forget sunscreen & insect repellent. Feel free to wear Star Wars costumes. Meet at the palm island in the center of the playground. **Make sure you sign the waiver before participating in any HIB hikes!  Star Wars Play

UTMB Levin Hall
       Mini Medical School - Health Equity 6-8pm
       *For those who have always wanted to know more about how the body takes in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide, how the body fights off infections, or how blood circulates throughout the body, among other topics, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is hosting a Mini Medical School. A series of seven lectures beginning on March 23 will cover topics such as the respiratory system, the immune system, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system and health equity. All classes will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. at UTMB’s Levin Hall, 1006 Market Street, Galveston. The series is free, open to those 16 and older and those interested can attend one or all sessions. But space is limited and registration is required. The registration deadline is March 16.         Red Cat Jazz Festival
        *For those music lovin' kids! Jazz aficionados to take advantage of the picture-perfect weather to lay down their blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the sunshine and great jazz music, all during Mother’s Day Weekend.  The Red Cat Jazz Preservation Society, Inc. a not for profit corporation will host the 2016 Red Cat Jazz Festival, a four-day non-stop live jazz holiday weekend festival. The Festival includes dozens of ways to experience jazz through free and paid performances, lectures, exhibitions and jam sessions.  Starts Thursday evening and runs through the weekend.  Jazz Fest

       *A way to make the waterpark educational and fun! Aqua Lab is an educational program designed by local teachers for local students. The Aqua Lab workbook is designed to be used as an educational resource for school groups, home school groups, and families to incorporate an educational element to their Schlitterbahn visit. The Aqua Lab workbook contains activities to ensure that students effectively learn the material.  Aqua Lab

Galveston Island State Park
All events are free with park admission ($5 person/13 & under free)  GISP Calendar
       Turtle Patrol Jr. 6-7pm  
       *Become a Jr. Ranger and help save the sea turtles! You can become a citizen scientist, and help the park to understand more about the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, an endangered species that nests Galveston Island State Park. You will take a stroll down the beach and explore ways to help the environment. Meet at the day use picnic area and begin a short hike down the beach and through the dunes, patrolling for turtles on this easy, evening beach hike. Great for anyone wanted to become a Jr. Ranger. Families, groups, and pets on a leash are welcome. Jr. Ranger Edition focuses on more hands-on and kid-friendly activities and topics.

       Texas Crab Festival 4pm-12am
       *The Texas Crab Festival committee is busy cooking up plans for a 2016 festival filled with more Gulf Coast style Music, Art and Crabs than ever before! The Texas Crab Festival earned the title of one of the “Top 10 Food Festivals to Dive Into” from USA Today, and was featured on both the Food Network’s “Eating America” with Anthony Anderson and the Cooking Channel’s popular show “Carnival Eats”. Word has gotten out that the Texas Crab Fest is an all-American family weekend of food and fun not to be missed!  Texas Crab Festival

Home Depot

       Home Depot Workshop - Angry Birds Birdhouse 9:30am-12pm
       *Join the hands-on workshop and build an Angry Birds-themed birdhouse that will make your child's feathered backyard friends happy. Once the birdhouse is built, your child can decorate it with Angry Birds stickers. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.  Angry Birds House

       GCVA "Bring Your Mom to the Beach Day" 8:30am
       *The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association will host its  "Bring Your Mom to the Beach Day," along with the Texas Junior Beach Open.  Free T’s for all Players Mom’s/Players who are moms that show up at the beach. T-SHIRTS Available at Check in Only. T-Shirts are for MOMs ONLY. Entry Fees: $25 per person, $50 per team.        *ED FEST is an annual event, sponsored by the City of Galveston’s Families, Children, and Youth Board, with an emphasis on education! ED FEST is a way to honor local educators and students and provides a great look at the education scene in Galveston with activities featuring programs from both public and private institutions, arts & crafts, stage performances as well as free books for kids & fun for the whole family!  ED FEST

       Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tours 9:30am-4:30pm (Tours departing at various times)
       *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups. Sign-up for tours is on location, but if your group would like to reserve a tour, email the Bucket Brigade Coordinator at kguidroz@artistboat.org, or call Artist Boat at (409)770-0722.        M/V Baysmart Express Public Cruise 12:30-4pm
       *Looking for something FUN? Hop aboard the M/V Baysmart Express for a 3 hour informative and scenic tour! Watch the pelicans soar over Offatts Bayou as you head into the Intercostal Waterway and pass under the Galveston Causeway Bridge. Be awed at the marine cargo vessels maneuvering in the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels. Dolphins surfacing are always exciting! Departing from and returning to the Sea Scout Base Galveston.         Become a Jr. Ranger 8:30-9:30am
        *Explore the park with some cool tools and tips. Join the short lesson and exploring hike. Great for families, young scouts, and youth of all ages to learn about the important job of a park ranger, and spend time discovering wildlife and hiking safety.
        Beach Exploration 10-11:30am  
       *Walks led by Galveston Bay Area Texas Master Naturalists - come and make memories with your family and friends.   
       Fish Printing 11:30-12:30pm
       *Great Arts in the Parks craft program for the whole family to join! Bring your old shirts, or create a paper fish print with Ranger Lisa! She will be introducing young park visitors to the anatomy of a fish, and creating a special art piece, worthy of any refrigerator or frame. 
       Insect Safari 2:30-3:30pm
       *The park will be handing out bug nets and heading to the fields in search of bug-eyed, six-legged critters from butterflies to grasshoppers. This fun-filled catch-study-release program is perfect for children of all ages with a fascination with the world of insects. Meet at the Nature Center and venture into the prairie and pond area for some great fun! So, come check out our bee hives, save some special species and know what's flying around you next time you venture out into the park.

Kempner Park & Garten Verein
        Satori BBQ Fundraiser & Silent Auction
        *Satori School is hosting their 34th Annual BBQ Fundraiser and Silent Auction on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Kempner Park and the Garten Verein.        *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.
