Weekly Events & Activities May 28th-Jun 3rd

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend! On Memorial Day, have fun with a Paint Party or Zombie Apocalypse Hike at Galveston Island State Park. Starting on Friday and through the weekend, Sea Star Base is hosting the Land Sea Adaptive Sports Challenge. On Saturday, take advantage of Texas Free Fishing Weekend, Sandcastle Lesson at Stewart Beach, Artwalk Downtown, and Movie Night on the Strand - 'A Dolphin Tale' at Saengerfest Park. On Sunday, the Stay and Play Fireworks start back up at 37th and Seawall. They will be every Sunday night at 9pm through the rest of the summer! Have a great week!

Weekly Events & Activities May 21st-27th

It will be busy on the island this week as we head into Memorial Day weekend and the start of the busy season here. Start your week off by registering for the Summer Reading Club at Rosenberg Library! Read books and earn prizes! On Friday and Saturday, stop by Clay Cup Studios and paint a silk tie for Dad for upcoming Father's Day. Also on Saturday check out Brewing for Rhinos at Galveston Island Brewing, Full Moon Paddle Tour at Galveston Island State Park, and Alice in Wonderland Ballet at The Grand. The show is on Sunday as well. Don't forget to haul your family down to East Beach on Sunday for the Family Beach Challenge! Win prizes! Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!

My heart is still heavy with the recent tragedy at Sante Fe. All those affected by this senseless tragedy are continually in my thoughts. Please donate blood if you can. I will do my best to keep you informed of pop up sites. I also encourage all of you to not only have thoughts and prayers, but start figuring out how you can help in making a change.

Happy Mother's Day! I hope all the island mothers had an amazing day. The week is a little slow on the island, but Saturday is full of fun activities! Check out free Kids Fishing Tournament at 61st Street Fishing Pier, Galveston Island Market downtown and Meet a Mariner Day at Sea Star Base. Also make sure to check out the variety of hikes at Galveston Island State Park! This weekend is Turtle Patrol, Edible Plants Hike, and Zombie Apocalypse. Have a fun week!

This week the SMART Party is on Tuesday night. On Friday, Yaga's Wild Game BBQ Kickoff starts and Teen Gaming is at Rosenberg Library. Saturday is packed a full day with La Izquierda Surf & Music Festival, Family Day at Ocean Star, Saturday Stories at the library, Turtle Patrol hike at Galveston Island State Park, Just Kiln Out - Youth/Teen Night at Clay Cup Studios, and Music Nite on the Strand! Sunday is Mother's Day! Take her out to brunch and then to Pleasure Pier where she can get in free! Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mother's out there!!!
