        *Boogie with Baby is a fitness class with your baby in a carrier! Sounds so fun! Class will be every Saturday at noon and the cost is $10.71 (includes tax).   Boogie with Baby

       Galveston’s Own Farmers Market 9-1pm (Sun) & 3-7pm (Thurs) (Every Sunday & Thursday)
      *Pick up some local produce and help support local farmers and growers. They usually have a kids corner here and an artist playing some tunes.  Farmers Market **Thursday market doesn't start until April 21st**

Sea Scout Base Galveston
       Schooner Sundays 2-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base’s schooner boat during “Schooner Sundays.” The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. A licensed captain and “spot tracker” is aboard the ship, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. *Check with website for cost involved*  Schooner Sundays

       *Aqua Lab is an educational program designed by local teachers for local students. The Aqua Lab workbook is designed to be used as an educational resource for school groups, home school groups, and families to incorporate an educational element to their Schlitterbahn visit. Tues May 17th

Sunny Beach
       Beach Meet Up with Hike it Baby 10am-1pm
       *Come join Hike it Baby for a little beach time at Sunny Beach! Bring sand toys, umbrellas, blankets, sun lotions, waters, and snacks. Meet behind the pole fence, on your left side, park your cars close to it and you’ll see the branch leader with a rainbow umbrella. Cars can’t go behind the “fence” so it’s safe for kids to run from dunes to the water. Weather permitted! Sunny beach is also known as 8mile Ed Beach. Make sure you sign the Hike it Baby waiver before participating in any events! HIB Beach Meet Up

Galveston Island State Park
All events are free with park admission ($5 person/13 & under free)  GISP Calendar
       Turtle Patrol Jr. 6-7pm  
       *Become a Jr. Ranger and help save the sea turtles! You can become a citizen scientist, and help the park to understand more about the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, an endangered species that nests Galveston Island State Park. You will take a stroll down the beach and explore ways to help the environment. Meet at the day use picnic area and begin a short hike down the beach and through the dunes, patrolling for turtles on this easy, evening beach hike. Great for anyone wanted to become a Jr. Ranger. Families, groups, and pets on a leash are welcome. Jr. Ranger Edition focuses on more hands-on and kid-friendly activities and topics.

       Palm Beach Opens (Weekends Only)
       *Palm Beach opens for the season on May 21, 2016 (weekends only) and opens daily starting June 4
       Birding 201 9-11am
       *Take what you learned in Birding 101 and apply it to the field! Go on a hunt for the birds on the island. Participants should meet in the Aquarium Pyramid lobby. The cost for the class is $5, and Moody Gardens® will provide the transportation. To reserve a spot, please call 409-683-4101 no later than the Wednesday prior to the Saturday class.  Moody Gardens

       GCVA "Memorial Madness" Tournament  9am
       *The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association will host its "Memorial Madness" Tournament.
Free T-Shirts For first 100 Players who check in at the beach. 160 Teams played last year.

       Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tours 9:30am-4:30pm (Tours departing at various times)
       *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups. Sign-up for tours is on location, but if your group would like to reserve a tour, email the Bucket Brigade Coordinator at kguidroz@artistboat.org, or call Artist Boat at (409)770-0722.         *Exciting and fun new categories will be added to this year's family-friendly dog show - the 6th annual “A Bark in the Park” The fun, friendly competitions for the Dog Show benefits exclusively GIHS. Sea Scout Base Galveston
       M/V Baysmart Express Public Cruise 12:30-4pm
       *Looking for something FUN? Hop aboard the M/V Baysmart Express for a 3 hour informative and scenic tour! Watch the pelicans soar over Offatts Bayou as you head into the Intercostal Waterway and pass under the Galveston Causeway Bridge. Be awed at the marine cargo vessels maneuvering in the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels. Dolphins surfacing are always exciting! Departing from and returning to the Sea Scout Base Galveston.         Beach Exploration 10-11:30am  
       *Walks led by Galveston Bay Area Texas Master Naturalists - come and make memories with your family and friends.   
       Go Fish! Learn to Fish Event 9am-12pm
       *Come learn how to fish with fun hands on activities for families of all ages! No experience or equipment needed and no fishing licenses required for this event. There is an entrance fee for the state park but the Go Fish event is no additional cost.
       Insect Safari 2:30-3:30pm
       *The park will be handing out bug nets and heading to the fields in search of bug-eyed, six-legged critters from butterflies to grasshoppers. This fun-filled catch-study-release program is perfect for children of all ages with a fascination with the world of insects. Meet at the Nature Center and venture into the prairie and pond area for some great fun! So, come check out our bee hives, save some special species and know what's flying around you next time you venture out into the park.

Dickinson (off island)
       7th Annual Red White & Bayou Crawfish and Texas Music Festival
       * The Kids' Zone will include a rock climbing wall, zip line, inflatable obstacle courses, and a mechanical bull that is sure to be fun for kids of all ages! And, if you like to shop, there will be plenty of arts and crafts vendors for browsing. There is a small admission fee for adults, but children 12 and under are free. Also, there is free admission for active military with a current military ID. Adult admission is $5.00 before 7:00 pm on May 21 and $10.00 from 7:00 pm until the end. You will also be able to purchase a Kids' Activities Wristband that will allow your kids all-day access to all of the kids' activities. Kids' Activity Wristbands are $15.00.        Bay Exploration 10-11:00am  
       *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.
       Beach Safety 101 12-1pm
       *Don't be afraid to go into the water, but do it safely! Come, have some fun and enjoy the beaches of Galveston safely with Ranger Lisa. She will discuss some of the basics on land, then use some life jackets to explore the currents at our sandy shores.  (Life jackets provided and shared.)

Pirates Beach Mini Golf, Jamaica Beach
       Mini Golf Fundraiser - Galveston Urban Ministries 4-8pm
       * Join Galveston Urban Ministries for its 3rd annual Mini-Golf Fundraiser. Pirates Treasure is located in the middle of Jamaica Beach RV Park.  Fee- $10 per person or $40 (for families with 4 or more). Mini-golf participants receive one $5 raffle ticket for each entry. Additional Raffle Tickets can be purchased at the event. Raffle Prizes include: Amazon Fire Tablet, dinner packages, special Island activities, gift cards and more...You do not have to be present to win raffle prizes.
