        151st National Juneteenth Celebration (Jun 11th-19th)
        *Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Festivities include the annual Gospel by the Sea, a scholarship gala, African-American Heritage Exhibits at the Old Central Cultural Center, book signings, the Juneteenth Picnic, and more. Juneteenth

Moody Gardens
       Wings of Wonder Bird Show (Jun 4th-Aug 20th - 12pm, 2pm, & 4pm - Daily)
       *Get up close to owls, falcons, hawks, vultures and a variety of other bird species as you learn about these amazing creatures and their place in nature.
       Bands on the Sand (Jun 4th-Aug 13 - 6-10pm - Every Friday & Saturday)
       *This live music series runs throughout the summer following each show with fireworks over the Moody Gardens pyramids and Offatts Bayou. Admission to each concert is $15 and free for kids three and under. Bands on the Sand will be held from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through August 13. 
       Dive in Movie Night (Jun 9th-Aug 11th - Every Thursday)
       *Join Moody Gardens every Thursday night at Palm Beach for a family-friendly Dive in Movie! Just $12 after 6 p.m. (included with day passes and memberships). Movie starts at dusk and all pools will remain open with the exception of the Tower Slides. *Please note that specific movie titles will only be promoted onsite due to licensing reasons. Sealy Pavilion
       Galveston Beach Band 7:30pm (Jun 7th- Aug 16th - Every Tuesday)
       *Join the Galveston Beach Band every Tuesday evening this summer beginning June 7th at 7:30 PM for a weekly outdoor summer pop band concert.  Every concert is free and offers great musical entertainment for the entire family! Galveston Beach Band

Galveston Arts Center
       Summer Art Program for Kids 9-10am (Ages 5-8), 10:30am-12:30pm (Ages 9-12) (Jun 10th-Aug 12 - Every Friday)
       *Friday morning classes are divided into two age groups: for 5-8 year-olds ($11 per class,) and for 9-12 year-olds ($22 per class.)  Taught by professional, working artists with teaching experience, the classes include topics like painting, printmaking, portraits, sculpture, comics and more.

       Galveston’s Own Farmers Market 9-1pm (Sun) & 3-7pm (Thurs) (Every Sunday & Thursday)
      *Pick up some local produce and help support local farmers and growers. They usually have a kids corner here and an artist playing some tunes.  Farmers Market 

Sea Scout Base Galveston
       Schooner Sundays 2-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base's schooner boat during "Schooner Sundays." The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. A licensed captain and “spot tracker” is aboard the ship, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. *Check with website for cost involved*
       M/V Baysmart Express Public Cruise 12:30-4pm (Every Saturday)
       *Looking for something FUN? Hop aboard the M/V Baysmart Express for a 3 hour informative and scenic tour! Watch the pelicans soar over Offatts Bayou as you head into the Intercostal Waterway and pass under the Galveston Causeway Bridge. Be awed at the marine cargo vessels maneuvering in the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels. Dolphins surfacing are always exciting! Departing from and returning to the Sea Scout Base Galveston. Boarding at 12:30 - Departing at 1:00pm. Overflow parking with shuttle service available. Adults: $30 | Kids (Under 12): $20 | Kids 5 and Under: Free  SSB Calendar

Artist Boat
       Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tours 9:30am-4:30pm (Tours departing at various times - Daily in the summer)
       *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups. Sign-up for tours is on location, but if your group would like to reserve a tour, email the Bucket Brigade Coordinator at kguidroz@artistboat.org, or call Artist Boat at (409)770-0722.        Kayak Adventure (Tours departing at various times - Daily in the summer)
      *Artist Boat is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts.         Schreiber Park Clean Up and Splash Pad - Hike it Baby 9-11am
        *Splash pad is finally on!! But the park and playground needs help cleaning up! Bring your trash bags, grocery bags, store bags…. Any bag will do. Bring gloves! HIB will meet in the middle of playground by Palm trees for welcoming circle and clean for while and then make their way around playground into splash pad!        World Oceans Day Festival and Art Contest 4:00-7pm
       *World Oceans Day is the UN-recognized day of celebration and action for the ocean. This year Artist Boat is hosting a community celebration in Galveston at Stewart Beach! Come out and celebrate on the ocean's doorstep! Partner organizations will provide fun and educational activities to highlight the human connection to the marine world! World Oceans Day

       Seawall Hike/Walk - Fast Paced - Hike it Baby 8-10am
       *Get your sneakers on and meet HIB by 81st street, and walk to the end of seawall (1.7 mile one way). Because of traffic and drop onto the beach, please bring stroller or carrier and  keep those kiddos safely in!!! It’s more of a faster walk to get the day started! Parking between 69th and 81st is free, park close to 81st street on Seawall. Seawall Hike

Texas Seaport Museum
       Summer at the Seaport: Set a Sail! 2-3:30pm
       *Set a sail! –  Ever wonder what life was like for a sailor in the 19th century? Join Texas Seaport Museum’s volunteer crew in setting a sail at dock on the 1877 Iron Barque ELISSA! Participants will learn the language of seafaring, how to work together as a group and what it took to make it out on the high seas! Tickets are $3 for children under five, $12 for youth aged 6-18 and $15 for adults and available at Galveston History or by calling 409-763-1877.

Galveston Island State Park

       Turtle Patrol Jr. 6-7pm  
       *Become a Jr. Ranger and help save the sea turtles! You can become a citizen scientist, and help the park to understand more about the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, an endangered species that nests Galveston Island State Park. You will take a stroll down the beach and explore ways to help the environment. Meet at the day use picnic area and begin a short hike down the beach and through the dunes, patrolling for turtles on this easy, evening beach hike. Great for anyone wanted to become a Jr. Ranger. Families, groups, and pets on a leash are welcome. Jr. Ranger Edition focuses on more hands-on and kid-friendly activities and topics.

       2nd Annual Firefighter Games on 6th 8am
       *Watch firefighters compete up close, or even join in the action yourself! BBQ cook-offs, antique fire truck show, live music, children's activities and more! Best of all, 100% of the proceeds go to United Way Galveston County Mainland. Firefighter Games

East Beach
        GCVA "Galveston Open" 9am
        *The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association will the Galveston Open, a USA Volleyball Junior National Qualifier.  Registration is open at teamusa.org. You do not have to be a GCVA member to participate. Check-in at East Beach is 8:30am, with tournaments beginning promptly at 9am. Galveston Open

Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum
       Family Day: Off to the Races 10am-3pm
       *Ocean Star Family Days promote family learning and quality time at a reduced cost. Discover the importance of viscosity and its usefulness to the Industry by being the judge of a special race between five different tubes of oil. Rank the results and determine what it means for a tube to win the race! Off to the Race

Galveston Island State Park - Salty Culture
     Free Surf Camp 11am-2pm
     *Join Salty Culture on the beach at Galveston Island State Park, rain or shine, from 9am to 1pm. There is no fee to participate and GISP has graciously waived the park entrance fee for surf camp kids and their families. They will provide a fantastic lunch courtesy of Classic Auto Group after a morning of surfing with our local legends. Free t-shirts will be provided for the first 35 kids courtesy of Outback T-shirt Company so get there early! Through age 12 are welcome and boards are provided, however, they do ask that all participants be strong swimmers.   Surf Camp

       Beach Safety 101 11:30am-12:30pm
       *Don't be afraid to go into the water, but do it safely! Come, have some fun and enjoy the beaches of Galveston safely with Ranger Lisa. She will discuss some of the basics on land, then use some life jackets to explore the currents at our sandy shores.  (Life jackets provided and shared.)
       Geocaching 101 1-2pm
       *Learn all about the treasure hunt of geocaching
       Sand Castle Contest 2:30-3:30pm
       *Ranger Lisa will clear an area for our contest, and bring some gear for you to use. The park wants to see what kind of castle you can make, so you're invited to spend some time gathering materials, building a structure, and decorating it to your liking! Prizes awarded to participants, but you can enter youth into our Arts in the Parks contest, via the Get to Know website for bigger prizes (ages 0-19yrs): Get to Know  Only sand castles made during the program count. No prior experience or materials needed.

       *In celebration of Juneteenth, St. Vincent's House will present its annual Gospel by the Sea concert. The event will feature the Wright Cuney Angels, the James B. Thomas Clef Club, Jerusalem Gospelaires, Galveston Mass Choir, St. James EPIC Jazz Ensemble and MANNA. Admission is $5 per person, plus one canned good ($10 without a canned good).        Bay Exploration 10-11:00am  
       *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.

The Grand 1894 Opera House
       “KIDS ON BROADWAY!” – A Summer Pops Concert Presented by The Houston Children’s Chorus and The Children of Galveston 5pm
        *More than 100 children will sing and dance onstage at The Grand 1894 Opera House. This concert is the culmination of a week-long residency of the Houston Children’s Chorus. This residency, called “Summer Music Funshop” is held for the children of Galveston and the members of the Houston Children’s Chorus. The Grand
