Sea Scout Base
       Pi Day Celebration 8am-4pm
       *Each year on 3/14, it's pi day - celebrating the number 3.14. March 14 also happens to be the birth date of Albert Einstein -- which makes the day an extra special one for planning math challenges and math fun! At SSBG they will be creating, baking and eating pies, memorizing pi and reciting the numbers, finding pi in nature, pi-yaking, and much more! $50 per person or $80 per buddy pair!  Pi Day

       Spring Break Time Travel Art Camp 9am-12pm (Mar 14-18)
       *Time Travel through art with Galveston's 2013 Elementary School Teacher of the Year Jessica Antonelli. For grades 1-3. Each day, this camp will cover a different time period in art, from Pre-historic cave-painting to imagining art of the future! Multi-media 2-D and 3-D take-home art projects for hands-on exploration of art history, techniques and ideas. All materials included. Dress for Mess! $30 per day, or $125 for the week.
       Spring Break Draw-Paint-Sculp Art Camp 1:30-3:30pm (Mar 14-18)
       *Join Galveston Arts Center for art camp! The kids will be accompanied by former faculty from Glassel Junior Art School. For grades 3-7. Students will explore form, composition, color and surface treatments with figurative clay sculpture, mixed media still-life drawing, and landscape painting. All materials included, Dress for a mess! Monday and Friday are together (figurative clay), Wednesday and Thursday also together (landscape painting). $25 per day or $90 for the week.   Art Camps

Spring Break Camp
       SMART Family Literacy Spring Workshop 1-3pm (Mar 15-17)
       *Create unique spring break adventures with brilliant and electrified book arts! Imagine creating stories and painting of bioluminescent marine life that actually light up! Make your own original paper, hard cover books and clay signs using iridescent paints, simple electronics and mini-maker tools. Ages 4 to 14. They do ask if you are signing children up under 7 that a parent stay and be present. $25 per class or $60 for all three days. Proceeds from this workshop will benefit SMART Family Literacy, a 501(c)(3).    SMART Workshop

       *Ever wonder what life was like for a sailor in the 19th century? Join Texas Seaport Museum’s volunteer crew in setting a sail on the 1877 Iron Barque Elissa! Participants will learn the language of seafaring, how to work together as a group and what it took to make it out on the high seas! Tickets are available online. $15 for adults, $12 for children 6-18 and $3 for children 5 and under.        Seaport Spring Break: Heave Away! 2-3pm
       *Getting a ship into port by wind power alone was no small feat in the 19th century. Come learn the skills it took to bring ELISSA into Galveston Bay. In addition, put your knot typing skills to the test making monkeys fists, a knotted ball of manila rope use for weigh down lines for tossing ashore.        *Have you wondered about your abilities to live in the wild, such as after an apocalyptic event?The park is going to talk about the basic skills needed to find food, water, shelter, and space in our short (somewhat humorous) program. It will begin at the Nature Center and travel to find the necessary items for survival.

       Seaport Spring Break: Nautical Yarns 2-3pm
       *For centuries, sailors have been telling tall tales about the mysterious creatures that live under the waves. Join us as we discuss the different sea monsters that have inhabited the Earth’s oceans and even create our own creatures from deep!        *FREE: Park open house with fun and activities! Friends of Galveston Island State Park is hosting an open house at the park and you're invited! Kayaking, fishing, wildlife viewing, fun and games, sea turtle obstacle course, prizes, and so much more will be provided to all. Great for families, scouts, youth groups, and anyone interested in discovering the joy of Galveston Island State Park!

Moody Gardens
       Birding 201 9-11am
       *Take what you learned in Birding 101 and apply it to the field! Go on a hunt for the birds on the island. Participants should meet in the Aquarium Pyramid lobby. The cost for the class is $5, and Moody Gardens® will provide the transportation. To reserve a spot, please call 409-683-4101 no later than the Wednesday prior to the Saturday class. Birding 201

       Registration for Preschool Camp!! 
       *Must register by March 19th for the next preschool camp at Moody Gardens - held April 2nd, 2016. The theme will be Hidey Holes. Preschool Camps: Ages 3-4- Join Moody Gardens as your kids learn through story time, make a craft, have a themed snack, and visit one of the Pyramids at Moody Gardens. Preschool camps are designed for campers 3-4 years of age, accompanied by one adult. Preschool Camp Fees: Non-members: $20 per day - Members: $17 per day

       Bay Exploration 10-11:00am  
       *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.
