       Galveston’s Own Farmers Market 9-1pm (Sun) & 3-7pm (Thurs) (Every Sunday & Thursday)    
       *Pick up some local produce and help support local farmers and growers. They usually have a kids corner here and an artist playing some tunes.  Farmers Market **Thursday market doesn't start until April 21st**

Sea Scout Base Galveston
       Schooner Sundays 2-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base’s schooner boat during “Schooner Sundays.” The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. A licensed captain and “spot tracker” is aboard the ship, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. *Check with website for cost involved*  Schooner Sundays

Schreiber Park/Seawall

       Hike it Baby - Schreiber Park & Seawall Hike 9:30am-12pm
       *Meet at the palm tree island in the center of the playground, then walk to Seawall, walk along Seawall, then return to the playground to enjoy the fun playground equipment. The walk itself will be 2-3 miles, depending on the group. If there are slow & fast walkers, they might split into two groups. Please plan to use a carrier or stroller for little ones, as you will be crossing and walking on busy streets & there is a steep drop off on the beach side of the sidewalk.  Schreiber Park Hike

UTMB Levin Hall
       Mini Medical School 6-8pm - Nervous System
       *For those who have always wanted to know more about how the body takes in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide, how the body fights off infections, or how blood circulates throughout the body, among other topics, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is hosting a Mini Medical School. A series of seven lectures beginning on March 23 will cover topics such as the respiratory system, the immune system, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system and health equity. All classes will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. at UTMB’s Levin Hall, 1006 Market Street, Galveston. The series is free, open to those 16 and older and those interested can attend one or all sessions. But space is limited and registration is required. The registration deadline is March 16.        *Free! No registration required to attend Raptor Shows! Join the more than 1,000 festival-goers and island visitors who are enthralled each year by this exciting, free-flight presentation of raptors demonstrating their hunting styles. Learn about the natural history of these incredible birds and their unique traits and abilities. The show includes Red-tailed and Harris’s hawks; Eurasian Eagle, Barn and Great Horned owls; Saker, Barbary and Lanner falcons; a Black Vulture and a Raven.  Raptor Show

Moody Gardens
      Out Run Hunger Kids 1k 7:30-8:30am
      *Out Run Hunger is a certified 5k and 10k race, organized by and benefitting the Galveston County Food Bank. But, it's more than just a race, it symbolizes an empowered group of men, women and children advocating to improve access to nutritious foods for all children despite their economic status. For children 10 years of age and under who want to enter the 1k run, registration is $10.00 until April 15, 2016 and then will increase to $15.00 on race day.  Kids 1K

       FledgingFest 8am
       *FledglingFest events are designed specifically for kiddos (ages 6 & older) and their grown-ups! You can take part in one or more of the following events as part of your nature adventure and introduction to the world and wonders of birding. Activities include instruction and field trips such as: Dolphins & Birds by Boat, Birding Secrets, Birds of Prey Raptor Shows and a Sea Turtle Barn Tour! PLEASE NOTE: You must be registered in order to be admitted into the FledglingFest workshop or on the FledglingFest field trips. No infants are allowed, and there are no exceptions. Only registered children (ages 6 & older) and adults can participate, however, for the FREE Birds of Prey Raptor Shows, ALL are welcome to attend regardless of age and you do not have to be registered. FledglingFest

Sea Scout Base Galveston
      US Sailing REACH on the Weekends 9am-5pm
       *Throughout the month of April, utilize sailing as an educational platform, challenge youth to embrace education, establish a love of learning and explore productive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) based careers. Combining educators, sailing instructors, engineers, scientists with today’s youth to provide them with a one of a kind authentic learning experience, giving students the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a cooperative work environment.
This is a month long program for youth whose schedules are open during the weekends. It is a full day program during the month of April. Each Saturday teaches two different sailing concepts over the five week program. Ages: 14-18, must be a High School student or a previous student in our REACH program. Time: 9 - 5pm Cost: $400 for 5 weeks Bring your own lunch and water bottle! Moody Gardens
       Birding 201 9-11am
       *Take what you learned in Birding 101 and apply it to the field! Go on a hunt for the birds on the island. Participants should meet in the Aquarium Pyramid lobby. The cost for the class is $5, and Moody Gardens® will provide the transportation. To reserve a spot, please call 409-683-4101 no later than the Wednesday prior to the Saturday class.   Birding 201

Galveston Harbour Tours
     Marine Biology Tours 9:30-11am
     *Galveston Historical Foundation’s Texas Seaport Museum is pleased to announce that they will be offering their Marine Biology Harbor Tour to the public on a limited basis. This unique experience takes place on board the SEAGULL II, a 50’ catamaran which docks at the Texas Seaport Museum, Pier 21, in Galveston. The tour starts at 9:30am and costs $15 per person for adults 19+, and $12 for youth aged 6-18. Children 5 and under are free and reservations can be made online at Harbour Tours or by calling 409-763-1877.

       *Free! No registration required to attend Raptor Shows! Join the more than 1,000 festival-goers and island visitors who are enthralled each year by this exciting, free-flight presentation of raptors demonstrating their hunting styles.        March of Remembrance Walk 1-5pm
       *The March of Remembrance Walk, presented by Texas A&M Galveston, will be held on Saturday April 16th, beginning at Trinity Episcopal church and ending at Pier 21 (dock in front of Willie G’s Seafood & Steak House). The March of Remembrance Walk is a simple prayer walk and/or event taken annually since 2007 on Yom HaShoah (Day of Holocaust Remembrance) to honor, educate, remember and engage. The March of Remembrance Walk seeks to honor Holocaust Survivors and their families, educate the public about the reality of the Holocaust.  March of Remembrance

       Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tours 9:30am-4:30pm (Tours departing at various times)
       *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups. Sign-up for tours is on location, but if your group would like to reserve a tour, email the Bucket Brigade Coordinator at kguidroz@artistboat.org, or call Artist Boat at (409)770-0722.        *Join Ranger Lisa on a short morning yoga session at the day-use area of our beach (just down the boardwalk from the restrooms and picnic tables.) Bring your water bottle and yoga mat or towel, but be prepared for sandy toes!  Great for campers or adults wishing to come into the park for the day!
       Beach Exploration 10-11:30am  
       *Walks led by Galveston Bay Area Texas Master Naturalists - come and make memories with your family and friends.   
       Birding 101 2:30-3:30pm
       *Ranger Lisa invites you to join us on a brief birding orientation and hike, to discover some of the great opportunities on Galveston. Awesome program for scouts, families, and anyone interested in learning more about our feathered friends.  You will discuss identification, field skills, listing, and why this island is a birding paradise!
       Paint Party 4:30-5:30pm
       *Let the beauty found in Galveston Island State Park inspire you to pick up a brush and lay down some color. Create a one-of-a-kind souvenir, and make some memories with Ranger Lisa.

       *Take a visit to some of Galveston's best art galleries at Artwalk! Many offer snacks for kiddos and drinks for adults!  Artwalk

       *Kids Room : Drop your kiddo off to do a project and have snacks while you have fun at Artwalk! No need for you to walk with a kid in tow!. Drop off is $25 per child   Parents Night Out

       Rotary Club Crawfish Boil 12:30-4pm
       *Again this year to raise monies that will directly benefit the Galveston community's many vital humanitarian and educational projects and programs, the Club will host its 6th Annual Rotary Club of Galveston Crawfish Boil. This fun, family event will again take place at Moody Gardens under the Big White Tent behind the Discovery Pyramid. The Lighthouse Charity Cooking Team will be back - under the direction of Dick and Horacene Daugird and their great crew - preparing a superb plate of Cajun-seasoned crawfish, potatoes, onions and fresh corn on the cob. Crawfish plate tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door. There is no admission charge. Crawfish Boil

       *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.
