The Strand/Seawall
          Mardi Gras! Galveston Hours Vary (Jan 29th-31st & Feb 5th-7th & 9th)
          Come celebrate Mardi Gras! Galveston! I'll be listing the kid friendly events as separate events, as downtown at night will NOT be kid friendly! Also keep in mind that there is a cost to access the Mardi Gras Entertainment District (The Strand). BUT - it's free for the children's parades!!      Mardi Gras! Galveston

Clay Cup Studios
            Tiny Tot Tuesday (Every Tuesday)
            From now on Tuesday will be Tiny Tot Tuesday at Clay Cup Studios! Bring your child in and for only $10 they can paint their very own tot.    Tiny Tot Tuesday

         Kid For A Day Hours Vary - Only open Friday evenings & All day Saturday and Sunday (Jan 8th-February 28th)

Tremont Gallery Galveston
         Children's Art Glass 3-6pm (Jan 15th-May 13th - Every Friday)
        *For children ages 6-14! Cost is $20 per class; art supplies and snacks provided. Tremont Gallery will be offering these every Friday afternoon with a different theme each class.   Children's Art Class

Downtown
2508 Post Office
      Galveston’s Own Farmers Market 9-1pm  (Every Sunday)    
      *Pick up some local produce and help support local farmers and growers. They usually have a kids corner here and an artist playing some tunes.  Farmers Market

Saturday Feb 6th

The Home Depot
         Home Depot Kids Workshop - Valentine's Mailboxes 9-12pm
         *Head to Home Depot for a hands-on workshop and build a wooden Valentine's mailbox to hold all your child's valentine cards from their favorite friends. After the mailbox is built, your child can personalize their project with paint.All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.    Kids Workshop

The Strand/Seawall/Kempner Park
         Mardi Gras! Galveston  -   Mardi Gras! Galveston Parades     
         Krewe d' Esprit Rosaire Battle of the Bands  9-11am
         *Come watch area marching bands battle it out in the battle of the bands! See who takes home the trophy!      
         Krewe d'Esprit Rosaire Parade11-1pm
         * After watching Battle of the Bands, watch the bands parade along and show off their skills. This parade starts at Kemper Park. From there, it proceeds to Seawall, down Seawall,  right onto 31st street, down Ave N, left onto 27th and end at Jack Johnson Park – 27th and Avenue M. At Jack Johnson Park, immediately following parade, the “Yard Party” will begin! More bead throwing, more music and food and drinks for sale and plenty of FUN!      
         Z Krewe 22nd Z Processional 1-2pm
        *This parades described as a little zany! And some of the best beads get thrown! It might be better for older kids - keep that in mind      
         Houston Chronicle Neauxs Krewe Parade 2:30-3:30pm
        *The Houston Chronicle is a proud sponsor of the Mardi Gras! Galveston and host their own parade on the Strand where more than just newspapers are thrown!
         Les Bon Temps Roule Parade  3:30-4:30pm
         *The good times keep rolling after the Houston Chronicle parade as the Roule parade marches around the Strand.
         Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade 6:30-7:30pm
         *Here is your chance to catch another night parade along the seawall. I would not recommend taking children to The Strand. Catch this one at the start! This is described as Galveston's largest parade! Parade starts at 23rd and Seawall Boulevard, turns right on 25th Street and continues to Mechanic Street. Right on Mechanic Street to 20th Street, left on 20th to The Strand. Left on Strand and end at the Railroad Museum.

Galveston Island State Park
All events are free with park admission ($5 person/13 & under free)
      Beach Combing 101 10-11:00am  
      *Join Ranger Lisa for a shell hunting workshop and exploration!   Beach Combing 101
      Bay Tower Hike 3:30-4:30pm
     *Cast nets and eat edible plants on a hike to the observation tower!    Bay Tower Hike

Clay Cup Studios
        Parents Night Out - Mardi Gras! 6-9:30pm
       *Clay Cup Studios will be hosting Mardi Gras themed Parents Night Out for kids aged 6 to 13 years old full of projects, pizza, games and karaoke. Space is very limited so make sure to reserve your spot today! Cost is $30.    Parents Night Out

       Bay Walk 10-11am
      *Presenter: Master Naturalist Root Choice. The Bay Walk will meet at the end of the Bay side road at Lake Como. Take a walk around the bay and discover the inhabitants that live there.   Bay Walk

The Strand/Seawall
          Mardi Gras! Galveston  -   Mardi Gras! Galveston Parades
          Second Weekend Family Gras Parades
          Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Parade 1-2pm
         *This parade used to be along the Seawall and has now been moved to The Strand this year. Come take a look at all the animals decked out in their Mardi Gras beads and costumes! This parade benefits and is sponsored by The Galveston Island Humane Society.
         Mardi Gras Children's Parade 2-3pm
        *After checking out the animals, stay for the Galveston Children's Parade! Firefighters Local 571 hosts the parade.
