Sugar Bean at Evia
        Hike It Baby Morning Coffee Stroll & Play 9:30am
       *Meet in front of Sugar Bean coffee house and walk to the playground nearby. They will walk on street but traffic is minimal there, please plan accordingly if you wish to get coffee or any other refreshments or snack at the coffee place. (Recurring hike) *For first timers - to attend a HIB event, you are now required to register on their website and sign the waiver. Hike it Baby

Moody Gardens
        Hike It Baby Toddler Led Moody Gardens Loop 10am
       *Meet in front of main building under stairs, walk to Festival Lights entrance and 1st playground, to little boat marina behind Palm Beach, to paddle boat and 2nd playground, to Butterfly Garden, to Macaw birds, and then walk inside to use restroom or refreshments. To end, walk over the bridge and down to main building. *For first timers - to attend a HIB event, you are now required to register on their website and sign the waiver. Hike it Baby

Wed Sept 21st

Rosenberg Library
        Storytime 10am & 2pm
       *Stories, fingerplays, music and puppets shared in a cozy setting. Planned for the individual child and parent or guardian. Rosenberg Library

Hike it Baby - Rosenberg Library
       Storytime and Hike 10am-12pm
       *Meet HIB at story time and afterwards walk 1 mile on quiet street to awesome Adoue Park! You can even have picnic there. In case of bad weather they will stay inside the library and play or read more. *For first timers - to attend a HIB event, you are now required to register on their website and sign the waiver. Hike it Baby

Thurs Sep 22nd  

Seawall & 81st
        Hike it Baby Seawall Fast Paced Hike 8-10am
       *Meet HIB at 81st street traffic light for morning paced walk. They will walk to the end of Seawall and back its a 3/4 mile long walk!!! Please keep your kids in stroller or carrier to avoid any accidents as we are walking by big drop off and busy street! Parking is free from 69th st to 81st. Menard Park

       Paws to Read 6-7pm
       *Stop by the Children’s Department and read a story to one of their furry canine friends!  Rosenberg Library

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt
       Spirit Night 5:30-8:30pm
       *Need to cool off? Then join Spirit Event at Orange Leaf Yogurt. For every cup of FROYO sold, Orange Leaf will donate 15% of each sale to Endangered Species Conservation so come on out and support your local AAZK (American Association of Zoo Keepers) chapter! GCAAZK

       Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival (23rd-24th)
       *The Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival returns to historic Downtown Galveston for two full days of shrimp, music, friends and fun. Event activities include a Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off, Gumbo Tasting, Free Outdoors Show, Official 5k, Lil’ Shrimps Parade, Live Music, Vendors, Kids Area and a Strand Merchant Walk-About!        Dinosaurs in Motion Exhibit Opens 10am
       *This brand-new exhibit features 14 life-size dinosaur sculptures made of recycled metal that are fully interactive! Come and learn about dinosaurs and the mechanics behind the scenes. Guests are encouraged to touch and interact with all elements of the recycled metal dinosaur sculptures while they explore the exhibit space. Moody Gardens
       Galveston Home & Garden Show: Celebrating Fall Equinox 10am-6pm
       *The Galveston Home and Garden Show adds a fall show in 2016!  Featuring outstanding floral displays, prominent speakers, and a host of home improvement professionals, the best little home show in the state will feature fall planting tips and home projects that can be ready for the holidays. Cutting edge products for gardening, home decor and repairs, contractors, green builders, landscaping companies, plants, artwork and indoor and outdoor home furnishings. Exhibitors range from floors to windows, interiors and exteriors. Special show discounts on services and merchandise. Come to shop, browse, and learn.        Ohana Fall Surf Classic 8am
       * First heats begin at 8:30 AM. Open Longboard contest and Open Stand Up Paddleboard: Mens/Womens/Mini-Groms/Groms/Jrs (Groms and Minigroms short board is allowed). Entry fee $20 / Teams $175. All proceeds benefit the Ashlyn Would Go Foundation and Johnny Kicks Cancer.Pre-registration is online at Surf Classic.

       Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup 9am-12pm
       *30th annual Fall Beach Cleanup! The Texas General Land Office has been sending this message across the state for twenty-five years, and Texans have responded. Due to tide patterns in the Gulf of Mexico, trash dumped anywhere in the gulf is likely to end up on a Texas beach. Volunteers record information such as the source and type of debris collected on data cards provided by Ocean Conservancy. The Texas Adopt-A-Beach Program, an all-volunteer effort, is dedicated to preserving and protecting Texas beaches. Adopt A Beach

       *Children love to paint and this funny monkey will be a fast favorite for your child. Cost is $25.

       Beach Exploration 10-11:30am  
       *Walks led by Galveston Bay Area Texas Master Naturalists - come and make memories with your family and friends.
       Insect Safari 3-4pm
       *The park will be handing out bug nets and heading to the fields in search of bug-eyed, six-legged critters from butterflies to grasshoppers. This fun-filled catch-study-release program is perfect for children of all ages with a fascination with the world of insects. Meet at the Nature Center and venture into the prairie and pond area for some great fun! So, come check out our bee hives, save some special species and know what's flying around you next time you venture out into the park.

Moody Gardens 
       2nd Annual Island Girl Triathlon 8am
       *The ladies only course features a 200 yard swim in the Palm Beach lazy river, an 8 mile bike ride around Moody Gardens, and a 2 mile run along the grounds surrounding the area. There will be post-race fun, food, and refreshments. This race is perfect for those who wish to do their first triathlon or for veterans alike. Women and girls, ages 8 years old and up are welcome!        GCVA Season Closer 9am
       *The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association will host its annual season closer. Free T-Shirts For first 100 Players who check in at the beach. Entry Fees: $25 per person, $50 per team GCVA

Artist Boat
       Kayak Adventure 10am-2pm
       *Artist Boat is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts.        *Tours start at the Nature Learning Center and are led by volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area TX Master Naturalist. Come join the fun of seining, finding out more about fiddler crabs and experience all the bay has to offer.

       African American Genealogy Lecture 2pm
       *This is best suited for older kids who are interested in learning about genealogy. Join Debra Blacklock-Sloan, a professional genealogist, to learn about researching your family history.  She’ll teach tips and tricks on how to get started researching the African American family to 1870 using her own family history to show her methodology.        *Meet HIB everyday at Schreiber (Spaceship, Rocketship) park for playground time. Meet in the middle under palms. This time outside also counts into HIB30 - 3x 30min per week! Weather permitted and only during school day (no Labor-day weekend or Labor Day. In the corner of playground there is a splash pad, prepare if you wish to splash! Hike it Baby

Sea Scout Base Galveston
       Schooner Sundays 11-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base's schooner boat during "Schooner Sundays." The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. A licensed captain and “spot tracker” is aboard the ship, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. *Check with website for cost involved*
       M/V Baysmart Express Public Cruise 12:30-4pm (Every Saturday)
       *Looking for something FUN? Hop aboard the M/V Baysmart Express for a 3 hour informative and scenic tour! Watch the pelicans soar over Offatts Bayou as you head into the Intercostal Waterway and pass under the Galveston Causeway Bridge. Be awed at the marine cargo vessels maneuvering in the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels. Dolphins surfacing are always exciting! Departing from and returning to the Sea Scout Base Galveston.
