It's a quiet week here on the island! Throughout the week are your normal reoccurring activities; Rec Center activities, Storytime on Wednesday, Paws to Read on Thursday at Rosenberg Library and Children's Art Classes on Friday at From the HeART Gallery.  On Saturday register for Home Depot's Workshop so the kiddos can make a Valentine's Theme photo box! Clay Cup Studios is also hosting Family Date Night on Saturday night where you can create a board art Family Tree! Look for the February calendar around the 1st. I'll have all the family friendly Mardi Gras parades and activities on it!

       Schooner Sundays 11-5pm (Every Sunday)

       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base's schooner boat during "Schooner Sundays." The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. We have a fun week coming up here on the island. On Wednesday, Galveston Island State Park has two fun hikes: Shelling 101 and Sunset Photo Hike. Also at the park, you can check out Stargazing 101 on Friday. On Saturday Clay Cup Studios is having Adopt a Penguin & Paint event! Moody Gardens is sending one of their biologists for information and show and tell fun!! You can also drop the kids off at Clay Cup for Parents Night Out later that night. Pippin is playing at The Grand on Sunday, a matinee at 2pm and and evening show at 7pm. Should be a great show! Grab a Groupon for it here (GIK Affiliated): Pippin Groupon Have a great week y'all!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and l hope it extends into Monday for some of you! Galveston Restaurant is still going on this week so check out a place you haven't tried yet! On Tuesday, Smart Family Literacy is hosting their monthly SMART Party at The Spot! Paws to Read is back at The Rosenberg Library on Thursday nights. Saturday has lots to look forward to with Preschool Camp at Moody Gardens (call to register first), Teen & Tween Canvas or Family Date Night at Clay Cup Studios, and Happy Tails Dog Stroll at Galveston Island State Park. Yaga's Chili & Beer Fest (chili for the kid, beer for you!) is also happening on Saturday! Little league registrations are happening this week so check the calendar for those. Have a fun week and see you out there!

What a chilly weekend! It's warming back up this week in time for some great activities! Galveston Restaurant is in full swing and there are so many great restaurants to check out! On Wednesday Storytime starts back up Rosenberg Library and they are kicking it off with an extra special one. Thursday brings Family Free Night at The Galveston Children's Museum and Friday there is a full moon hike at  Galveston Island State Park. Saturday is full of fun with Family Day at Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, Kids Canvas at Clay Cup Studios, and Artwalk on the Strand. I hope it's a fun week for everyone and let me know what restaurants y'all are checking out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope everyone is starting off 2017 with lots of love and renewed spirit for the new year! Any resolutions? Galveston Island Kids certainly has some! I've really enjoyed updating y'all with all things family friendly on the island! For this year, I really hope to get more park reviews up on the blog. I also would like to start partnering with area businesses for giveaways and discounts exclusive for Galveston Island Kids. I'm hoping for lots of great changes and involvement with the community this year! I started this blog and then gave birth to my second a few months after. Because of that, I wasn't able to invest as much time as I wanted to last year. I'm thinking positive this year and plan to have lots more for you!! Thanks for all the continued support!! :-)

Now onto the week! This is the last week to make it to the Festival of Lights and Iceland Sculptures at Moody Gardens or the Magical Winter Lights at Gulf Greyhound Park. On Thursday you can head to Family Fun Night at Rosenberg Library. Check out The Home Depot kids workshop on Saturday morning or Saturday Stories at the library! Galveston Restaurant week also starts up over the weekend so check the website for all the restaurants participating! I can't wait to see what 2017 brings and excited to spend the year with all of you!
