It's New Years Eve week! Plenty of celebrating left to do! Throughout the week Galveston Children's Museum still has Winter Camp going on and Clay Cup Studios is also offering a winter break camp! Family Fun Night is Thursday at Rosenberg Library. If you have a Dinosaur lover, you might want to check out TRex Planet this weekend at The Galveston Island Convention Center! It starts of Friday! On New Years Eve, it's pretty quiet. Please let me know if you know of a countdown kids event on the island. You can check out a hike at Galveston Island State Park or have fun at a Children's Art Class though! From the Heart Gallery (Formerly Tremont Gallery) is now offering them on Saturdays too!! I hope everyone has an awesome New Year and I can't wait to see what 2017 brings for all of you!!!

       *Moody Gardens’ Festival of Lights returns for the 15th year to brighten the holiday season from November 12, 2016 through January 8, 2017.As one of the largest holiday celebrations in the region, Festival of Lights has become a holiday tradition for families and groups alike. Enjoy more than one million lights within 100 sound-enhanced animated light displays and nightly live entertainment. You can also skate around on the area’s only outdoor ice skating rink (bring your own skates or rentals available for $7), try out their Arctic Slide or take pictures with Santa. Moody Gardens

       Magical Winter Lights 5-10pm (Weekdays) 3-11pm (Weekends)
       *The 2016 Magical Winter Lights will return to Houston at Gulf Greyhound Park this winter from November 18, 2016 to January 8, 2017 including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. This year’s festival will feature six fascinating themed sections including Magical Wonderland, Holiday Market Square, Dinosaur Land, Mystery of the East, Man and Nature, and Landmarks of the World. There will be an expanded interactive dinosaur exhibit complete with dinosaur rides, a 3-D art installation, daily acrobatic performances, authentic arts and crafts created by skilled Chinese artisans, amusement rides and games, and live entertainment.        *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base's schooner boat during "Schooner Sundays." The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Throughout the week Galveston Children's Museum has Winter Camp and a Parents Day Out and The Kitchen Chick has lots of fun cooking classes! On Saturday (Christmas Eve) you can have breakfast with Santa at The Rainforest Cafe if you missed it last week, but make sure to call for reservations! You can also check out a couple different hikes at Galveston Island State Park. Sunday you can grab brunch at The Galvez, The San Luis, or Holiday Inn Resort for Christmas if you don't want to cook!! I hope everyone has an amazing holiday and best wishes for a safe and happy day filled with family!

It may have been a little chilly over the weekend, but that didn't stop the fun! This week the temps are warming back up! Throughout the week make sure you are stopping by the usual island holiday staples if you haven't already! On Friday Cirque Joyeux Noel Dinner and Show kicks off at Moody Gardens. It looks really cool! Saturday you can have breakfast with Santa at The Rainforest Cafe, but make sure to call for reservations! There is also a really great Elf on the Shelf reading at Clay Cup Studios! And Saturday evening don't miss Galveston's Holiday Parade!!! Sunday brings the Santa Hustle to the island and The Galveston Children's Museum is having Tea Time with Santa! The rain put quite a damper on all the fun holiday activities over the weekend! I guess we will just have to enjoy them this week! Especially since Dickens on the Strand is bringing the festival back for the weekend! Throughout the week you can always stop by The Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens or visit Holiday Splash at Schlitterbahn. Tuesday head on over to Bahama Bucks and get a free sno!! Family Date Night is Friday at Clay Cup Studios and Holiday with the Cranes is also kicking off Friday as well! Along with Dickens on the Strand over the weekend, you can check out Santa Train at the Train Museum, Santa Paws at Tom Thumbs, and Holiday in the Park at Saengerfest Park!  Also The Nutcracker is playing at The Grand throughout the weekend - grab a Groupon for it below!
