       Schooner Sundays 2-5pm (Every Sunday)
       *Get a fresh start to the day and set sail on the Galveston Sea Scout Base’s schooner boat during “Schooner Sundays.” The massive sailing beauty leaves Offats Bayou just after noon each Sunday and sails out to destinations beyond Galveston causeway.        Free Tinkergarten Trial Class 9:30-10:30am
       *Come try out a Tinkergarten class with instructor Amy Carson! The trial class will give you the chance to see, first hand, what a class feels like and how we inspire authentic, play-based learning for children (and a great time for all)! This free trial class is designed to be the first class in the Spring season of Tinkergarten. This class is designed for children 18 months through five years old and a treasured adult.   Tinkergarten

The Grand 1894 Opera House
       Open Auditions: Red Riding Hood 4:30pm
       *An open audition for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of RED RIDING HOOD will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 promptly at 4:30pm at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston. There are roles for those students in Kindergarten through High School. Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition. This is a group audition - no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time!  Auditions

       Mini Medical School 6-8pm - The Immune System Part I
       *For those who have always wanted to know more about how the body takes in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide, how the body fights off infections, or how blood circulates throughout the body, among other topics, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is hosting a Mini Medical School. A series of seven lectures beginning on March 23 will cover topics such as the respiratory system, the immune system, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system and health equity. All classes will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. at UTMB’s Levin Hall, 1006 Market Street, Galveston. The series is free, open to those 16 and older and those interested can attend one or all sessions. But space is limited and registration is required. The registration deadline is March 16.       "Sales for Tails" Garage Sale Preview Event 6-8pm
       *The "Sale for Tails" event committee will host a Friday Night Preview PAW-ty, April 1st. Those attending will have an advance "look" at the merchandise and will enjoy light snacks and beverages.  Admission to the Preview PAW-ty is $10. Sea Scout Base Galveston
      US Sailing REACH on the Weekends 9am-5pm
       *Throughout the month of April, utilize sailing as an educational platform, challenge youth to embrace education, establish a love of learning and explore productive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) based careers. Combining educators, sailing instructors, engineers, scientists with today’s youth to provide them with a one of a kind authentic learning experience, giving students the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a cooperative work environment.
This is a month long program for youth whose schedules are open during the weekends. It is a full day program during the month of April. Each Saturday teaches two different sailing concepts over the five week program. Ages: 14-18, must be a High School student or a previous student in our REACH program. Time: 9 - 5pm Cost: $400 for 5 weeks Bring your own lunch and water bottle!        *The Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS) will sponsor its first ever Garage Sale - “Sale for Tails” -  Friday, April 1st through Sunday, April 3rd at  3628 35th Street in Galveston. The public is encouraged to donate items, to volunteer during the event, and to make purchases to ensure this new fundraising initiative becomes an on-going and successful project.  Sales for Tails

       *Join hundreds of volunteers on land or on the water (bring your own paddle craft) as we work to clean up over 40 miles of Armand Bayou during the annual Rivers, Lakes, Bays and Bayous Trash Bash event.   Trash Bash

       *Scout Day at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark on Saturday, April 2, 2016.        *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups.        *Join Moody Gardens with your preschooler to learn through story time, make a craft, have a themed snack, and visit one of the Pyramids at Moody Gardens. Preschool camps are designed for campers 3-4 years of age, accompanied by one adult. Reservations and pre-payment are required for all programs.        *This is such a cool idea and event! Children with special needs need to celebrate holidays too! Mom of special needs son, Katherine Sanger, is hosting an egg hunt to provide that for kids who cannot attend other egg hunts, because of the assistance they may need from a parent.  If your child could benefit from an egg hunt designed to fit his or her needs, register for the event beforehand.        *Come spend an hour on a Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tour, and learn about the creatures and features that make Galveston's marine and coastal ecosystems so special! Tours provide free hands-on exploration of questions such as: Why does the water change colors? How is seaweed a good thing? How do I connect to the ocean? The tours are educational and fun for ocean lovers of all ages. Each tour caps at 20 participants, but with multiple tours each day, they welcome individuals and groups.        *Take what you learned in Birding 101 and apply it to the field! Go on a hunt for the birds on the island. Participants should meet in the Aquarium Pyramid lobby.        *Must register by March 19th for the next preschool camp at Moody Gardens - held April 2nd, 2016. The theme will be Hidey Holes. Preschool Camps: Ages 3-4- Join Moody Gardens as your kids learn through story time, make a craft, have a themed snack, and visit one of the Pyramids at Moody Gardens. Preschool camps are designed for campers 3-4 years of age, accompanied by one adult. Preschool Camp Fees: Non-members: $20 per day - Members: $17 per day
